Mentorship – Land Surveyor
Would you like a mix of office and field work? Does using modern technology like drones and GPS interest you? Have you ever wondered what a Land Surveyor does? Would you like to learn more about Geomatics? Chenega is pleased to offer a mentorship opportunity to learn what a Land Surveyor does, and what a career in the Geomatics profession can mean to you. The mentorship will include field visits to survey various projects on Chenega-owned lands, as well as in-office sessions post-processing the data to create maps and exhibits. Currently, Alaska and the nation are in desperate need of Land Surveyors. University of Alaska, Anchorage currently offers a Geomatics degree with several emphases. In 1994, the corporation entered into a joint venture with Tatitlek and Chugach corporations creating a company that provides oil spill response and recovery training in Prince William Sound for the purpose of creating job opportunities for shareholders and their families living in Valdez and Cordova.
